KMSG History

The Keratomileusis Study Group (KMSG) was founded in 1993, by Jairo E. Hoyos M.D.(Spain), and Enrique Ariza M.D. (Mexico).

It's objective was to meet people who were convinced of the worth of the Keratomileusis technology developed and initiated by Prof. José Ignacio Barraquer since 1962 and convinced of its importance in the development of Refractive Surgery.

In order to honor Prof. J.I. Barraquer and at the same time, seek his direction, Prof. J.I. Barraquer was called to take part in the group as a life long President, a position which he was pleased to accept.

In January of 1996 the KMSG society, was created as a non-profit foundationwith a legal structure and regulatory policies.
